Everyone is in a hurry these days and rushing to get to work or school. Long soaks in the tub may not be practical for a busy weekday. You may be lucky to get ten minutes for a quick bathroom shower especially if you share a bathroom with the whole family. When I was in high school I longed for my own bathroom without my two brothers pounding on the door and telling me to hurry up. These days people look at you as if you’re insane if you only have one bathroom. They also think you are crazy if you don’t have bathroom showers for everyone living in the house. No sharing allowed.
Bathroom showers may be combined with a bathtub and are enclosed with a shower curtain or sliding doors. With the popularity of oversized soaking tubs, many bathrooms have a separate shower enclosure. Some people do not enjoy a bath at all and they might have a more elaborate shower set up with multiple streams of water and massage features. In fact since the invention of shower massage, not many showers have ordinary showerheads even in hotels. Most have some sort of pulsating feature and many convert to a hand held unit. I love the oversized showerheads that mimic a rainfall. It is very soothing and can be adjusted from a gentle rainfall to a downpour.
For elderly or handicapped people, a shower may be the best option. If you have arthritis, it becomes increasingly difficult to step in and out of a tub and bathroom accidents top the list for in home injuries. You can have a shower stall that is large enough to accommodate a wheelchair if necessary and many have built in seats and hand help shower heads to make bathing much easier. They do make walk in bathtubs now that have a watertight door to make soaking possible. There are also portable shower seats that can be removed when other family members are taking a shower.
You can design the bathroom shower of your dreams if you are building a new home or doing a complete remodel. There are thousands of choices for tiles and materials. You can add a ledge to making shaving your legs simpler or incorporate a seat if you just want to relax under the massaging spray. You can have four of five different showerheads that will vary in height and intensity so a whole body massage is possible. We have all seen the commercial where the husband and wife are trying to get home first to get in that fabulous shower. I love to soak in the tub, but I could definitely get used to a bathroom shower like that one.
